Butter London The Full Monty

Woo hoo! The Olympics is starting! I've been looking forward to this for the last four years. I love that tv stations broadcast sports I normally don't get to see on tv. My favorites are diving (especially synchro), gymnastics, and track and field. Are you guys excited? Any favorite sport or athlete that you will be cheering for?

Today, I have an appropriate color in the spirit of the Olympics. Butter London's The Full Monty is a yellow gold foil, reminiscent of the Olympic gold medal.

Unlike the smooth metallic finish of The Old Bill that gives it its copper sheen, The Full Monty's finish is considerably more foil-y. Up close, you can discern the individuality of The Full Monty's foil particles and their respective shimmers. I love a classy gold, and The Full Monty is exactly that. It looks light and elegant on the nails, but it definitely does not blend in.

The formula is wonderful, as is usual for Butter London. The only thing of note is that two thin coats did not disperse the foil particles with enough density onto the nails. leaving some bald spots. So I ended up using a third coat for fuller coverage.

You can find The Full Monty on butterlondon.com for $14 for 0.4 fl oz, or as part of the Heavy Medal Collection of three polishes for $36.

  1. This is the perfect color for the Olympics! I'm definitively going to watch the gymnastics and I want to check out the mens swimming to see if Phelps breaks the record!

  2. I'm excited too - this has been a "hard" summer, Giro d'Italia, Tour de France and now the Olympics - your hands look good in gold, go for it :)

  3. I am totally indifferent about the olympics. I don't think I'm going to watch any. I cherish my sleeping hours a lot more ;-))
I do drool all over the keyboard for this polish though. I think that the foil-y look is my favorite finish (other then holo of course) and this one is SOOOOO great!! I need to get my hands on it soon!

  7. I like it 3 coats is not that bad if we apply a nice fast dry topcoat. I'll be watching the Olympics too :)

  9. It looks kind of greenish (like a yellow green) in these pics! I love the formula of Butter London, but only have one of their polishes (Yummy Mummy). It's annoying when a polish doesn't distribute evenly even with 2 coats though! I'm such an Olympics junkie, so happy that they're on right now. I dragged myself out of bed on Saturday morning at 5:30am to watch the Opening Ceremony :)

    1. In person, it's a straight up gold without any green. I normally don't like to do three coats, but this one dried pretty fast so it wasn't too big an issue.
Wow getting up at 5:30 is dedication! Over here, the Opening Ceremony was during the day and I was at work, so I ended up catching a rerun later that night. :-)
