Julep Ashley

Hi and happy Friday! I have been trying to fight off a cold for the last week as everyone else around me has fallen sick, but my efforts have been in vain. It looks like the cold has caught up with me. At least the weekend is here, so I can get some much-needed rest and relaxation. :-)

Today I have for you Julep's Ashley, another pretty polish from my May It Girl Maven Box. Ashley has a light orange base with lots of shimmer in a metallic finish.

As far as oranges go, Ashley is a mellow one. It's a light sun-kissed orange, with just a hint of bronze so that it looks slightly burnt from some angles. Due to the gloomy weather, I had a little trouble capturing the exact shade for my pictures. In real life, the color is a little more muted and less red-influenced than in the pictures. It is a lovely orange that works well for the spring and summer.

The formula on Ashley is a little thinner than it is on Nessa, which makes Ashley easier to work with. It spreads out smoothly and evenly onto the nail, without any pooling or dragging. There are some brush strokes, but that is pretty much on par for a metallic. To keep the brush strokes to a minimum when working with metallics, remember to do thin coats and allow each layer to dry before applying the next one. The only problem I have with Ashley is the bad brush (the same problem I had with Nessa). I have emailed Julep and hope it will get resolved very soon.

Don't forget to enter my current giveaway for a chance to win the entire Zoya Surf Collection containing 6 brand new bottles of polish! <3

Take care and hope you guys aren't sick like I am! Let me know if you have any fun plans for the weekend, so I can live vicariously through you! :D

    1. Thanks, sweetie! Ugh I hate being sick. Oh yes, I'm glad you entered! Sometimes in my head I picture myself doing something (like entering a contest or replying to a message), and then later I'm surprised I didn't actually do it. lol. :D

  3. Such a vibrant tangerine! The slight burnished tone is quite unique and really does give the polish an extra something. I hope you rest up and feel better soon.

  4. A nice orange, but I thought it would lean towards copper more... Sigh!

Take care! Relax and pamper yourself :)

    1. I think Sheryl from the Boho Glam box might have more of the copper tone you are looking for.

      Thanks, sweetie! <3

  5. Ahh, another gorgeous Julep.... Get well soon! I'm going to my brother-in-law's birthday bash. :) Sad because I'll have to take Charla off because it doesn't match my dress. ;)

    1. Since I have a lot of brush strokes in my pictures, the tip for metallics is more "do as I say, not as I do" lol. ^^

Thanks so much for the award! So kind of you to include me! <3

And thanks. I feel a little better today, so I hope I am on the way to better.

  7. I keep thinking I'm gonna resign up for the maven program and then I read that the brushes are awful, the formula is awful and I change my mind.! But I am an IT girl and love this color!

    1. Ashley is a lovely color and I really like the formula on it. If all the Juleps had Ashley's formula, I think they would be all set. Now the brushes are a different story, but Julep did get back to me that they are sending out replacements. :-)
