OPI This Gown Needs a Crown

Happy weekend, friends! Hope you're all having a wonderful one! I'm enjoying my long weekend. One of my plans is to catch up on sleep, but I'm so excited to have time off from work that I've been waking up hours earlier than I wanted to each day haha.

Today, I've got the last of the OPI Miss Universe 2013 trio to share with you. This Gown Needs a Crown is a light shimmery silver that dries to a satiny matte foil finish.

The bottles come with a little crown trinket wrapped around the neck, which is quite cute. :-) This is a very pretty and festive silver, not too soft or too harsh, just a very flattering shade. The application is smooth and easy. The first coat is a little sparse with the shimmers, but it builds up nicely with subsequent coats. I ended up doing three coats for the swatches, but if I were wearing this instead of taking close macro shots, I'd probably stop at two.

You can find This Gown Needs a Crown at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $9 for 0.5 fl oz.

  9. I almost bought this one the other day, but decided to give it a miss. It is pretty, and I like it a lot, but I've already got so many silvers that I don't use, so... :)

  15. How would you compare this with Zoya's Seraphina? Looking at the two side by side in your photos, Seraphina has a lighter color but I was wondering about the finish as well? I have This Gown Needs a Crown but I was wondering if you think they're different enough for me to purchase Seraphina as well? Your opinion would really help! :D

    1. Hi! I'm so sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I didn't see your comment until now. You know, that's a good question. They do seem really close, so I pulled them out to check. Color-wise, they are pretty similar, just a shade or two off from one another. The more noticeable difference is their finish. The suede of OPI This Gown makes the silver less glossy and shimmers more noticeable, which is what you'd expect from mattifying a color. Zoya Seraphina, on the other hand, has a more traditional foil finish and dries to a glossy finish. Do you need both? Umm that's hard to say. I think they are close enough that you can just get one and apply a glossy/matte top coat to approximate the other. But if you do decide to get both, you don't have to worry about them being dupes. Hope that helps! :D
