Hi, you guys! Is it spring yet? I can't wait for sunshine and warmer temperatures. I'm pretty much over all the rain and the cold lol. Thankfully in the polish world, spring has arrived!
When I first heard about the new spring Zoya Magical Pixie Collection—a trio of polishes promising to have the pixiedust's traditional gritty texture plus plenty of bigger sparkly glitters—I admit I was totally intrigued. And Zoya really kept us in suspense this time, with the weather unavoidably delaying the shipment of these polishes for a few extra weeks. But the wait is over. I've finally got my paws on these and I'm so excited to show them to you. :)
Cosmo
Cosmo is a silvery champagne color, totally festive and sophisticated, and the sparkliest of the trio. The silver colors in the base really play up the larger iridescent glitters, causing the polish to twinkle and glow like crazy on the nails.
Lux
Lux is a soft rose that's a little bit subdued, so that the base doesn't come across as too bright pink. The glitters add just the right amount of sparkle and glamour. This is my favorite of the three.
Vega
Vega is a cool-toned blue, with just a hint of gray that probably comes from all the silver holographic glitters in there. This is such a fun and eye-catching shade, and the sparkliness and texture just adds to that.
Formula-wise, all three are quite similar. Cosmo is maybe a tad thicker than the others, Lux thinner, and Vega the most pigmented. For all, I used two coats for what you see in the swatches. I applied one thin coat first to establish my edges, followed by one medium coat to fill in everything. Because of the larger glitter pieces, they can clump together and be dragged around if you press too hard, but a gentle touch gave me no application problems at all. I am happy with the coverage from two coats on all of these, but because Lux is slightly less dense than the other two, you may need an extra coat if yours are thinner.
You guys know I love textures and have been a huge fan of Zoya's pixiedusts, so it's no surprise that I adore this trio. It's got everything I love: bright happy colors, boatloads of sparkles and the wow factor. All of them are gorgeous, though Lux is my favorite, edging out the other two by just a smidgen... I can never resist a great pink. :)
I know there's some concern about the chunky glitters feeling too gritty on the nails. To be honest, they don't feel too gritty to me, but I think that's a personal preference. I don't mind texture on my nails, and I find that the grittiness smooths out after a day or so, just from showering and washing my hands. In terms of removal, you'll probably need to use the foil method to effectively get all these glitters off. I would say, if you loved the subtle texture and easy removal of the classic pixiedusts, then maybe these aren't for you. But if you love the extra sparkle quality and don't mind the removal on these, then at least one from the set is a must-have! :D
Yikes, I wrote a lot! Guess I've been storing up my polish-talk for a while and it's all come out now. :P Anyways, I'd love to know what you think of this collection. Are you a fan? Which one(s) are your favorite?
You can find Magical Pixie shades on Zoya.com for $10 for each 0.5 fl oz bottle.

This is the best write up about the new PixieDusts I've read. Keep that polish talk flowing!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! <3
DeleteAhhh! Welcome back! <3 Leave it to Zoya to bring you out of hibernation, LOL. :D I like Lux best on you, followed closely by Vega. It's interesting that you said the grittiness smooths out on these.
ReplyDeleteThank you, my dear! <3 You know I can't resist a pretty Zoya collection hehe. I find it gets less snaggy with each day that I wear it, the same as any other texture. I usually wear my polishes for up to a week, but if you change your polish more often, it may not be as noticeable. :)
DeleteGreat to see you back! Some gorgeous shades here. I really want them :D
ReplyDeleteThank you, it's fun to get back into blogging after a break. :) Zoya really hit it on the head with this collection. :)
DeleteI am just loving these polishes! They are just made of sparkles! Love it :) x
ReplyDeleteYay I'm glad you're loving these. "Made of sparkles"... that totally describes these. :D
DeleteWe love it when you get chatty :) Thanks for the review and swatches.
ReplyDeleteHehe thanks! <3
DeleteI really want to see these in person. They look fun and I love textures so I have a feeling that I will love them, too.
ReplyDeleteIf you love textures, then these are not to be missed. :D
DeleteYAY, you're back!! ♥♥ You certainly do these beauties justice. I wasn't sold on the collection at all until I got them on my nails... Removal is a bit of a pain but I also noticed that they wear even better than the original Pixies (no small feat!). So, they're worth the extra effort for removal for me and still not the pain in the neck traditional glitters are. I adore Lux.
ReplyDeleteThanks Liesl, it was fun to write a post after being gone for so long. :) They really are undeniably special on the nails. And I love how wonderfully they wear too... it's one of my favorite things about texture polishes. :)
DeleteIt is so great to see a new post from you. It's been quite a while.
ReplyDeleteI like the sparkle in these even though these colours aren't my cup of tea.
Thanks, it has been a while! Time always flies when I'm being lazy hehe. :) I think the sparkles in here are just tremendously pretty too. :)
DeleteYay, you're back! I've missed your posts!
ReplyDeleteThese look amazing! I'm a little concerned about the texture, since I really don't care for gritty polishes, but I'm sure they'll still find a way into my polish stash. They're just too beautiful to pass up! Lux is definitely my favorite of the three.
Thanks Martha, it was really fun to get back into the swing of things and work on a post after so long. :) The texture doesn't bother me, but that's a personal thing. These really are gorgeous to look at, and I love Lux too. I think you'll have a hard time resisting them hehe. :D
DeleteI love Lux the most, just because I'm in love with pink shades :) Zoya's Pixie Dust polishes are always so dreamy, I really need to get my hands on at least one of them ^.^ Oh and glad to see you're back! <3
ReplyDeleteI love pink too, so Lux immediately caught my attention. :) Thanks so much, I'm really happy to be posting again. <3
Deletewow, I love reading your posts!
ReplyDeletethe pictures look beautiful, and your nails look Always stunning ;)
xx Julia
thanks for sharing this with us!
Thank you so much, Julia! <3
DeleteYay you're back! :) These polishes look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHehe yep, it was definitely fun to go through the process of writing a post again, especially after being off for a while. I'm glad you like this collection! :D
DeleteYay, welcome back! These look great on you. Lux is my favorite as well :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, I'm really happy to be blogging again, though it was fun to be lazy for a while. :)
Deleteoooh! those bling bling♥
ReplyDeleteYes, they're so sparkly! :D
DeleteGreat to see you back! I'm still not sure if I like this collection. Originally I didn't love textures because I thought they looked like stucco. But then I saw some of the Zoya's and Kiko's and fell in love with them because they had shimmer. Now I feel like these are the other extreme. Too much glitter for a texture. I'm conflicted.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! <3 Yes, these are definitely on the more textured/lots-of-stuff-going-on end of the spectrum lol, so I can understand your reservations. They do look more subtle if you layer one coat over another base color, so that might suit you more. :)
DeleteIt is really cool to see you back! <3
ReplyDeleteI like both textures and glitter as you know, but I'd like the colours to be more bold :)
Thanks, I'm happy to be blogging again. :) These are spring colors, so maybe Zoya will come out with more bold shades for the summer. One can hope, right? ;)
DeleteWelcome back dear Yun <3! They all look lovely on you and while it takes me no effort to justify owning the whole set it is Cosmo I like best! This being said I will give them a pass since - after having ogled my fair share of pictures of them - find them not too suitable for my shorter nails or as accent nail only. Great pictures, very helpful polishtalk xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Christine! <3 Hehe I understand... the large amount of glitter in here isn't to everyone's taste. Cosmo is definitely a sparkly beauty, though. Though I can always polishtalk with the hubby, it just isn't the same as polishtalking with you guys. :D
DeleteI'm so happy to "see" you back again, I missed you :)
ReplyDeleteAnd you are so right, the spring collections is such a good way to start a new year and the longing for spring - lovely swatches :)
Thanks so much, Maria! I've really missed blogging, and especially the interaction with everyone. <3 Thanks, I'm glad you like the swatches.
DeleteCosmo is my favorite of these, it is so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt really is. I'm glad you like it! :D
DeleteYun!!! you're back!!! I missed you!!! Everything ok? so glad you're back with your awesome nails!
ReplyDeleteI just got these myself and can't wait to play with them!!!
Hi Gosia! Thank you so much for your kind words! <3 I needed some time away to relax, but I'm glad to be back. :D It's such a fantastic set... I think you'll love it. :)
DeleteWelcome baaaack! Hihi. I love Vega the most. It's such a pretty blue. And it's summer here so maybe we can switch places? lol. I think I prefer the rain.
ReplyDelete(>_<)
Thank you! <3 Vega is such a pretty blue, so eye-catching and sparkly! Ha, you don't mean that. I am so sick of the rain and cloudy days. I think we just got 3 weeks straight of nothing but rain... totally bleh! :)
DeleteIt's great to see you! These are beautiful and you came back with a bang :) I mentioned on Liesl's post about them that Lux looks a lot like OPI Teenage Dream. Do you have that one? Mine is all dried out and clumpy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Essie, it's fun to be back and to go through the process of writing up a blog post again. Though after having stopped for a while, I think I've gotten a lot slower lol. I'm glad you like this set! I don't have Teenage Dream, but they do seem similar. I guess one difference is that TD is a straight up glitter with no texture particles. :)
DeleteWelcome back Long time haven't heard from you :) This collection looks amazing wish i could get zoya polishes :) Haven't bought a new color in ages. try to keep my stash under control :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, it's fun to be back again. :) Yea, it's a really great collection. I'm glad you like it. Haha I'm always trying to keep my stash under control, but I don't think I succeed. My polish overflows everywhere, in boxes, on kitchen counters, on my bookcase lol. :D
DeleteThese look gorgeous -- I especially love Lux. So glittery! I hate how hard glitters are to remove though :(
ReplyDeleteThe removal is a bit of a pain, but I use the foil method, so it's not too bad. Lux is my fav too, though the whole collection's amazing. :)
DeleteI love lux the most. this is the very glittery way to celebrate spring ;)
ReplyDeleteHehe it is. I love Lux too. :)
DeleteYeap! Most definitely a fan of glitter texture polishes. Hehe, Vega is my favourite out of these three. Lux comes next. I always fancy a little chilly weather, and Vega emits just that feeling. Can't agree more with you on Lux, does look so much like the go-to polish to add sparkle and glamour to an outfit! Hmm, personally, don't quite fancy Cosmo. Probably it lacks the unique factor. However, there's no doubt about the sparkles it has, I can even see it from here. :D
ReplyDeleteps: Lux looks incredibly good on you! ^.^
Hehe I'm so glad you like these. Vega's really gorgeous and totally has that chilly-day vibe. :) Thanks, I really love Lux on me too. I can never pass up a sparkling pink lol.
