Hi, you guys! Hope your week is going well! :-)
Today, I've got the second of the two new OPI Designer Series Raw Granite polishes to show you. DS Pewter is a dark pewter gray loaded with tons of small and slightly larger silver glitters that dries down to a sparkling, matte textured finish.
The formula is a little thinner than Lapis's, so it's much easier to control. The glitters build up nicely on the nails with each stroke. From a distance, the density of the silver glitters makes the overall polish look a little lighter than you may expect from the dark gray base. For the swatches, I did one thin coat to mark my edges and then one medium coat to fill everything in. This is another swoon-worthy beauty, reminding me of a galaxy full of twinkling stars. :-)
You can find DS Pewter at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $12.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

that looks so cool! I love the black/grey look. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I think it's totally awesome too! :)
DeleteI really think I need this one! I thought I needed the blue one, but it looks like it's really close to Zoya Sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like this one, Essie! :) As for Lapis vs Sunshine, I pulled out my Sunshine for a comparison. So they are both dark blue, but they look different enough to own both IMHO. The base colors are different, with Lapis pulling in more purple/indigo, while Sunshine is more muted denim. The difference is hard to capture on camera, but it's definitely there in person. For me, they are quite different because I have a strong preference for one and not the other. That being said, if you aren't as crazily into blue as I am and just want a dark blue texture, perhaps either would work and you don't need both. Hope that helps and I'm not just rambling lol. :-)
DeleteLOL. I love blue polish. I saw a comparison and they looked exactly the same. But I probably shouldn't base my decision on one comparison:) I'll take your word for it. We shall see. I just know I am going to get Pewter.
DeleteAh yes, Pewter's awesome! Definitely deserving of a place in your stash. ;)
DeleteThis looks like where the diamond blacktop meets the night sky. Beautiful! <3
ReplyDeleteYes it does! I'm glad you like it, Melissa! :)
DeleteI love the look of this polish and the chunky glitters. It does look like a galaxy and that is just fine with me :)
ReplyDeleteI just love chunky glitters in textures! It gives them so much more depth. I'm glad you like this! :)
Deletei like this one. it's so chunky and glittery looking.
ReplyDeleteI love the chunkiness of the glitters too! I'm glad you like this! :)
DeleteI love the DS OPI's. This looks so similar to Rimmel's Precious Stones Nail Polish in Diamond Dust :) x
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it! Oooh yes, the silver glitters in black polish is such a popular inspiration. :)
DeleteI like this almost just as much as its blue sister :)
ReplyDeleteHehe that's awesome! I'm glad you like it! :)
DeleteOh my word. This is absolutely stunning. OPI is doing it right with the designer series!
ReplyDeleteFor sure! I'm really loving the two from this year! :)
DeleteGalaxy is definitely the right word for this!!! What a beauty!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely... I'm glad you think so, Martha! :)
Deletelooks like diamond sparkle!! love it
ReplyDeleteYes it sure does! :)
DeleteHi Yun, very elegant and beautiful!!! Once more Opi has released two stunners as part of their DS Series and I frankly could not decide on a favorite - well if push comes to shove I would go for the blue ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love both as well. I hope I would never have to pick between the two (such an unpleasant thought!), but if it came down to it, the blue edges out the black just a bit for me too. :)
DeleteI kind of like the asphalt vibes I get from this LOL
ReplyDeleteHehe I'm glad you like it! :)
DeleteIt looks lovely. How close it is to China Glaze Some Like It Haute, Do you know?
ReplyDeleteI don't have Some Like It Haute, but I took a look at swatches. It seems to me that they're pretty similar. The biggest differences are that Pewter is a texture polish, and also Haute has silver holographic glitters while Pewter's are just silver reflective glitters. Hope that helps! :)
DeleteThis color reminds me nails inc 3d can't remember the name. I think the zoya the black is darker. the nails inc was more gunmetal black if it makes sense :)
ReplyDeleteYep! I think there are a lot of similar colors out there. The silver glitters in black base is a great combo. :)
DeleteIt does look like a galaxy! I love the matte sparkle effect!
ReplyDeleteIt does! I love it too! :)
DeleteYun!!! This looks absolutely beautiful! It's so sparkly and PRETTYYYYY. I think I really am going to spend $13 on this polish! *PLEASEDONTTELLMYHUSBAND* =X lol!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, I won't say a word! *wink* It's just too pretty to pass up! :D
DeleteOhhh this one is super pretty! I love how opi puts larger glitters in some of their textured polishes it really makes them so unique. Great color and the texture finish makes it look perfect! Love the swatches lady!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! <3 The large glitters are awesome in textured polishes, I totally agree! I'm glad you like this. :)
DeleteOh wow! This is the first time I saw large glitters and textured polish together. Soooo gorgeous! And your swatches are to die for. lol.
