Zoya Maisie

Today, let's wrap up Zoya's Fleck Effect Spring 2012 Collection with Maisie! Maisie is a sheer blue base filled with shimmering blue and green flakes.

Just like Chloe and Opal, Maisie's base is mostly sheer, so you will see only a hint of blue on the nail when applied by itself. All the polishes in this collection are especially lovely as top coats, applied over another color. I tried Maisie over Skylar in my swatches, and Maisie's large mylar flakes plays perfectly off of Skylar's muted shimmer.

One thing to keep in mind is that Opal and Maisie are very similar. It looks to me like they have the same blue-green flakies. The difference is in their base colors. Opal's light green base shifts the color of its flakies to the greener side of the blue-green spectrum, while Maisie's light blue base shifts the color of its flakies to the bluer side. If you are a polish collector like me, of course you have to get all three! But if you are looking for the more unique ones in this collection, then Chloe and either Opal or Maisie will be just great! :D

What do you think of this collection? Are flakies the most awesome polishes or a passing trend? Which polishes from this collection will make it onto your wish list?

You can find Maisie on Zoya.com for $8 for 0.5oz.

  1. I bought all three when they did the Buy 3 Get 3 code a while back. Flakies are probably a fad, but that's why I need to stock up now while they're available. :)

P.S. Not sure you're aware you've got word verification turned on--thought I'd let you know since it can be hard for people to navigate through it. Like me.

    1. haha that's a good idea, getting flakies while you still can! :D

Thanks for letting me know about the word verification. I looked through my settings and I guess it must have been on by default. I updated it. Hopefully it should give you no more trouble. :-)

    2. Thanks so much for turning it off! Yeah, I think they do have it on by default--and then don't show it to you if you're commenting on your own blog so you don't see it. I generally like Blogger but they do a few things that get on my nerves. :)

    3. Oh is it working? When I reload my settings page, the Word Verification goes right back to "Yes" even though I've saved it successfully as "No". Not sure what is going on there.

    4. It was off for me with that last comment I made; if this goes through it's still good.
