Zoya Josie

Hi you guys! :-)

Today, I'm wrapping up the Zoya Stunning Summer 2013 Collection with Josie, a cool-toned slight-dusty medium grassy green with a creme finish.

Josie is definitely another win for Zoya. The color is terrific, though it does make my warm Asian skintone look both red and yellow at the same time lol. The formula is great as well. It's thin, smooth, and nicely pigmented, neeeding just two coats for opaque coverage. Dry time is fast, and each coat dries to a glossy finish.

Now that I've gone through all the colors in the collection, I'd love to know what you think of it. For me, I love bright pinks, so Micky and Yana are probably my favs from the collection. Which ones are yours? Will any of the colors be going home with you? :-)

You can find Josie on Zoya.com for $8 for 0.5 fl oz. If you are new to Zoya, you can get your first two bottles of Zoya for $8 - $9 total and free shipping! More info HERE.

  1. woww very soft and subtle color, i love green and loving the glossy finish. Are you wearing topcoat? and since you have a interest in nail thinks i want to know about the best top coat which give super glossy shine? any recommendation?

    1. I'm glad you like the color! It's a terrific green. :-) For the pictures, I'm not wearing any topcoat. Josie dries nice and glossy. For me personally, when I do use top coat, I use Seche Vite. It dries super shiny and glossy, but it can be a little bit tricky to use. If you use it, be sure to wrap your tips well so you don't get polish shrinkage from the tips. Hope that helps! :-)

Im very lazy to paint my nails. can you please explain that how that wrapping thing works? my application is always messy and i when i take pics it look more messy

    3. Hehe I'm very lazy too... I usually don't use top coat when I'm painting my nails. ;) To wrap, just hold your brush vertically against the tip of your nail (your hand is horizontal), then lightly go from left to right so that the top coat gets onto the tips of your nails. That way, you are "wrapping" the top coat around the tips. :-)

  7. Not too big on greens so this isn't my fave of the collection, but it does look lovely! I do like colors like this in the summer for "beach days", though--they seem to call for something a little wilder than basic pink :)

    1. Oooh yes, I know what you mean about beach day colors... and it's fun to branch out to other colors than pink. :-)

  8. I'm not a huge fan of pastels, but I must admit that I'm a little bit tempted to buy a couple of these :)

    1. This collection isn't too light, if that is what you don't like about pastels. I think the brightness of the collection may mesh well with what you like. :-)

  9. Greens are just so tricksy!! I feel like I'll most likely get this one because it shares a name with one of my favorite Steely Dan songs. I will say that since you're not loving it with your skintone it'll probs look alright with my light oliveness. My Ulta didn't get their shipment last weekend like they were supposed to, lol, so I'll be stalking them on Saturday for this one and Rikki (another Steely Dan song, lol).

    1. Greens are tricky for me too... I just never know how they'll look on me. Yes, I think this one might mesh well with your skintone. My Ulta just got the Zoya Summer colors in, so hopefully yours did too. I look forward to seeing this one on you. :-)

If I could choose a second polish I would gp for the bright pink :-)! Thank you for having shown us this wonderful Collection, your swatches were drop dead gorgeous!!! - Christine

  15. I just got this color and it looks so different on me. I almost want to describe it as avocado. It doesn't look nearly as bright on me.

    1. I've seen this color look so different on different people... I think greens have a way of doing that. On me, I definitely wouldn't say it's bright, and my skintone pulls so much yellow out of it, though it doesn't look quite avocado on me. Hope you like it! :)
