Best of 2013 - Top 10 Nail Polishes!

Hi, you guys! :)

As we prepare to ring in 2014, I wanted to put together a "top 10" of 2013 post to share with you. I had so much fun looking back through all the polishes of the year as I was preparing this list. I actually started on this a few days ago, but was having a heck of a time trying to narrow down to just 10. It was so hard lol! :D But I've finally done it. So without further ado, here are my favorites of the year:

10. Julep Mackenzie
Nothing gets my attention like a bright green with shimmers, so this one is right up my alley. I love how crisp and cheerful the shade is. It's just one of those colors I'd slap on and feel instantly happier. :)

9. China Glaze Elfin' Around
I couldn't not include my favorite red of the year in this list. I love the warmth of this shade and how glowy the shimmery foil finish is. When it feels like half of the polishes coming out are reds, it says a lot that I don't have another in my collection even close to this shade. In fact, this may just be one of my favorite reds ever. :)

8. Zoya Blu
Just looking at this feels like a breath of fresh air. It's the most lovely shade of light blue, with the right balance of softness and pigmentation. I'm so used to light blue cremes having horrid formulas that I jumped for joy to have found this one with a fantastic formula. :D

7. KBShimmer Teal Another Tail
The sparkly teal and strong pink shimmers make a fantastic, drool-worthy combination. The end result is pure mermaid magic, calling to mind iridescent fish scales and mermaid tails.

6. China Glaze Highlight of My Summer
You guys know I adore my brights and greens, so this one is a must for my list. I love the uniqueness of this shade, a vivid mint green bordering on neon. Its bright cheerfulness is just perfect for the summer time.

5. OPI Kiss Me At Midnight
What a dazzling shade of blue this is. It's the first of two liquid sands from the OPI Holiday Collection to make my list, which goes to show you how much I love them. The silver glitters against the blue base add just the right amount of sparkle and contrast to make this interesting and stunning.

4. Zoya Carter
2013 was the year of texture polishes, and Carter is a standout among them and my favorite of the Zoya PixieDusts. The color is royal and sparkly, the wear is like cement, and the removal is just as easy as a regular polish... what's not to love? ;)

3. Sephora + Pantone Universe Purple Wine
I was smitten with this polish from the moment I tried it on. There are so many pinks out there that I think I've seen them all. But this one really stood out to me. The blue shimmers in here just seem to glow from within the purplish pink, and its subtle matte finish makes it even more striking.

2. Butter London Fiver
I love mint as much as the next girl, and this is just the perfect mint shade. It's not too blue or green, and the softness of the shade makes it mellow and striking at the same time.

1. OPI Make Him Mine
As a texture polish, this has it all. It's immensely sparkly, totally fun, and classic while still being girly. I'm not normally into neutrals, but this is just the perfect balance between neutral and interesting. If favorites were decided by how often I've worn a polish and how many compliments I've gotten, this is for sure at the top. :)

Favorite lists are of course subjective, so these are just my personal preferences. :) Now that you've seen my list, I'm so curious to know - what are your favorite polishes of 2013? :)

  1. Wow, you have an indie in your top 10!! This is awesome!!!
I know I have been silent lately, but I do peep here and there and this post just screamed for a comment: I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT!!!
I totally love your pic, I love the shades, I love the variety of finishes... ♥
May the coming year find you with even more indies, and with even nicer experiences! (oh and more green nail polish. You made me a complete addict!)

    1. Hi Jin! So good to see you around. <3 I've been slowly getting into indie polishes... there have been so many good shades this year. :) Hehe as you can see, I am also addicted to green polishes. Thanks, hope your 2014 is filled with happiness and awesome polishes too! *hugs*

  2. Happy New Year Yun! :)
I really scaled back my rate of polish procurement this year (trying to control the size of the stash, lol) but the sand/dust/sugar textured stuff still makes my list in a big way. If frequency of wear is called into play then I think OPI Honey Ryder is tops. I've worn it probably a dozen times and that's saying something for a person who typically only changes their manicure every 5-7 days. I'm hoping I'll still find a bottle of Make Him Mine or Baby Please Come Home (they seem to have sold out quickly here) but no luck yet.

    1. Hi Rachel! The textures have just been amazing this past year. Honey Ryder is so pretty. I think the Bond Girls Collection really kicked off my love of textures. And the textures in the MC holiday collection is gorgeous too... hope you are able to find those two polishes soon. Around me, the big beauty stores are already out of them, but I still see them in small nail salons and beauty supply stores. Happy new year to you too! Hope your 2014 is off to a fantastic start. <3

  15. Happy New Year, dear Yun!!! Beautiful picks, I remember many of those posts and being awed by your pictures and texts! I think Carter and BL Fiver make it by a hairline to my favorites of your list. Oh and the Pantone of course, well I better cease trying to name favorites at this point. Sidenote: those round-ups are so much fun to read BECAUSE they are personal - how boring would it be if a General, all-valid list would be created - I yawn at the mere thought of it!!! Looking forward to a new year of exiting posts with you <3

  19. I LOVE to see what you picked for your favorites. You show soooo many polishes and seem to love most of them...it's nice to hear about the stand out ones. Did you ever get that bright green you were eyeing from Sephora when they had that gift card? I ended up getting that Marc Jacobs one as well as the Nails Inc and love them both! So glad I got them.

    1. Aww thanks so much, Essie dear! <3 No, I didn't... I couldn't decide and ultimately ended up getting a Dior lipstick. I figured if I wasn't 100% into it, I probably don't need another polish lol. :D I did pick up Nails Inc Botanical Gardens last week... I can't ever resist a good mint and it was on sale. :)
