OPI DS Pewter

Hi, you guys! Hope your week is going well! :-)

Today, I've got the second of the two new OPI Designer Series Raw Granite polishes to show you. DS Pewter is a dark pewter gray loaded with tons of small and slightly larger silver glitters that dries down to a sparkling, matte textured finish.

The formula is a little thinner than Lapis's, so it's much easier to control. The glitters build up nicely on the nails with each stroke. From a distance, the density of the silver glitters makes the overall polish look a little lighter than you may expect from the dark gray base. For the swatches, I did one thin coat to mark my edges and then one medium coat to fill everything in. This is another swoon-worthy beauty, reminding me of a galaxy full of twinkling stars. :-)

You can find DS Pewter at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $12.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

OPI DS Lapis

Hi, you guys! Happy Tuesday! I always find it hard to get back to the weekday grind after a long weekend, but on the plus side, we're already one day closer to the weekend heh. :-)

Today, I'm really excited to have one of the two new OPI Designer Series Raw Granite polishes to share with you. DS Lapis is a dark sapphire blue loaded with small silver and blue glitters that dries down to a sparkling, matte textured finish.

The formula was a little thick and goopy for me, which is very uncharacteristic of OPI. I had a little bit of trouble getting clean lines, so I would definitely add a few drops of thinner before using it again. Each coat did come out nicely pigmented, with the glitters distributing evenly. And I needed just the standard two coats for total coverage. The final result is worth the slightly tricky application though. It's a rich and striking color on the nails! And since I frequently get asked about dark blues, I'm happy to report that I had no staining. :-)

You can find DS Lapis at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $12.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

OPI DS Luxurious

Hi everyone! Here is the second of two new polishes to join OPI's Designer Series this fall. DS Luxurious is a coral orange loaded with tons of shiny, glowy, sparkling gold shimmers.

I asked my husband how he would describe this color and he said "It's orange... with flecks in it... and the cap is nice." Ok, let me try to do a little better than that. :D It is the most intense, vibrant orange with tones of coral and red, and it is full of glistening golden shimmers. As I turn my hand and the light catches it, the polish looks like it is positively glowing on the nails.

The formula for DS Luxurious is just as great as for DS Indulgence, providing smooth, even coverage that is opaque in two coats. OPI totally hit it out of the ballpark with this one. After swatching this color, I promptly removed my pedi color and put this on. I feel like a spotlight should follow me around and shine on my nails at all times so that I can properly show this off! :-)

DS Luxurious will be available starting in September at your local nail salons and beauty stores for $12.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

OPI DS Indulgence

As promised, I have early looks at the two new colors to join OPI's Designer Series this fall. Today, we'll start off with DS Indulgence, a bright berry red packed to the hilt with sparkling gold shimmers.

Wow, this color is gorgeous! The base is a rich, vivid red that leans slightly cool due to its purple undertones. The golden shimmers provide an interesting contrast by supplying warmth to the cooler base. The shimmers transfer abundantly on the nails, and bring a glowing, fiery intensity to this polish.

The formula is perfection. It comes out in thin, even coats. Color payoff is great, and it only takes two thin coats for opacity and consistent shimmer distribution. Dry time is fast, so you don't have to wait more than a minute between coats. The only downside to this polish is that it retails for $12.50 per bottle versus OPI's regular price of $8.50 per bottle. Maybe all that diamond dust contributes to the price increase? :P

DS Indulgence will be available starting in September at your local nail salons and beauty stores for $12.50 for 0.5 fl oz.
