OPI What Wizardry Is This?

Hi you guys! Hope your week is going well! Mine has been so busy. I feel like I barely had any time to relax and just kick back. I'm hoping I'll get the chance this weekend. :-)

Today I'm wrapping up the OPI Oz The Great and Powerful Collection with the only liquid sand polish of the bunch. What Wizardry Is This? is a burnished copper brown with gold and copper glitters that dries down to a matte textured finish.

Compared to the Mariah Carey Liquid Sand polishes, this one is made up of finer particles, so it's not quite as textured. The formula is thin and super easy to apply. It goes evenly onto the nails and with enough pigmentation to reach opacity in two coats. It first applies onto the nails glossy, then dries down to its signature liquid sand finish, with the glitters and extra gritty particles giving it the textured look and feel. Dry time is a little longer, as is the case for textured polish, so give yourself a few extra minutes if you are wearing this.

Hope you guys have enjoyed my posts on the OPI Oz Collection. What do you think of this collection? Any particular likes or dislikes? For me, When Monkeys Fly! was definitely the sore thumb of the collection, but I really like the rest. I would have expected an Oz-inspired collection to feature emerald and ruby colors, so the theme felt a little contrived. But otherwise, it's a really fresh and elegantly beautiful collection that I think I'll wear frequently in the future.

You can find What Wizardry Is This? at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $9 for 0.5 fl oz.

OPI When Monkeys Fly!

Hi you guys! Happy hump of the week! :-)

Today, continuing with the OPI Oz The Great and Powerful Collection, I have another glitter from the collection to share with you. When Monkeys Fly! is made up of small and medium silver reflective hexagon and large gold hexagon glitter pieces, all in a sheer base.

Oh gosh, I feel like this polish is not at all like the others in the collection. While the rest of the collection is soft, understated, and elegantly fun, this one is a bit garish thanks to the large gold glitter pieces. It also has some obvious formula problems, as you can see from the swatches. The large gold pieces are curling up such that their edges lift off of the nails during application, a big no-no when it comes to glitter polish. This then causes a tendency for all the large gold pieces to cluster around and stick to each other, making it difficult to place them on the nails. The end result is quite messy.

After many complaints about the curling glitter issue, OPI owned up to the problem and offered replacements for those who bought this polish. Here is what they had to say via their Facebook page:

"We have determined that in some instances, due to the glitter’s size and shape, it can curl over time as it sits in the lacquer base. This was not experienced during field-testing and is now being addressed. Those of you who are dissatisfied can contact our customer support team with the batch number listed on the bottom of the bottle and they will replace it with another Oz shade of your choice."

It's surprising that a big polish company like OPI would have missed this issue during their initial testing, but it's definitely heartening to see them step up and offer to make right for anyone who encountered this. :-)

You can find When Monkeys Fly! at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $9 for 0.5 fl oz.

OPI Glints of Glinda

Hi you guys! I have another of the soft shades from the OPI Oz The Great and Powerful Collection to share with you today. Glints of Glinda is a sheer neutral beige with a translucent jelly creme finish.

The formula for Glints of Glinda is similar to the other jelly cremes of the collection. Each coat goes on smoothly and evenly without streaks, so it's easy to build up to the coverage level you like. It was still a little sheer for me at two coats, so I did three for the swatches.

This is just about the perfect polish for mannequin hands. The slightly sheer jelly formula provides a softer way to wear beige than you would normally get out of a traditional creme formula, and the glossy shine gives a polished feeling to the mani. This looks like your nails, but better. :-)

You can find Glints of Glinda at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $9 for 0.5 fl oz.

OPI Which Is Witch?

Hi you guys! Hope your week is off to a fantastic start! :-)

Today, I've got another pretty glitter to share with you from the OPI Oz the Great and Powerful Collection. Which Is Witch? is a densely populated glitter made up of silver reflective glitter pieces in various shapes and sizes, including small and extra-small round, medium hexagon and small bar glitters, all in a sheer base.

When the light catches all those silver glitter pieces, their sparkles remind me of that of a disco ball. Due to how dense the glitters are in this polish, the application is easy-peasy. It applies smoothly and evenly, with the glitters distributing effortlessly across the nails without any pushing or shoving. I needed just one coat over OPI Don't Burst My Bubble for the swatches above. I'm usually not a huge fan of bar glitters, but the ones in this polish don't really bother me. The bar glitters are relatively small and subtle, adding just a bit of sparkle and variety to the glitter mix.

You can find Which Is Witch? at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $9 for 0.5 fl oz.

OPI Don't Burst My Bubble

Hi you guys! Hope your weekend has been lovely and relaxing! :-)

Today, I've got another of the soft neutral shades from the OPI Oz The Great and Powerful Collection to share with you. Don't Burst My Bubble is a soft milky white with just a hint of pink in a translucent jelly creme finish.

This is so soft and pretty on the nails, definitely a clean and refreshing way to wear white without being too harsh. Just like the other jelly cremes in the collection, the formula for this one is fantastic. Each coat goes on smoothly and evenly without being streaky, so it builds up coverage nicely. If you like softer and more translucent, you can stop at two coats, but I did three for the swatches above and I really like it at that.

You can find Don't Burst My Bubble at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $9 for 0.5 fl oz.

OPI Lights of Emerald City

Hi you guys! Hope you're having a great Saturday! :-)

Today, I've got one of the glitters from the OPI Oz The Great and Powerful Collection to share with you. Lights of Emerald City is a sparsely populated glitter made up of medium-sized square opalescent and large square white glitter pieces in a sheer base.

The large white squares in here look like pieces of paper on the nails... definitely an interesting look. Since this is sheer, it's better used as a topper, and I've got it over OPI I Theodora You in the swatches. Application-wise, this polish was on the trickier end. Due to how sparse the glitters are, you have to dollop the polish onto the nails, then gingerly smooth it out. But as you smooth it from cuticle to tip, you kind of drag the glitters along, so more of them end up on the tips. I did one coat for each nail, then went back and filled in some of the bald spots along the cuticles.

You can find Lights of Emerald City at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $9 for 0.5 fl oz.

OPI I Theodora You

Hi you guys! Hope this week is treating you well! :-)

I've got the OPI Oz The Great and Powerful Collection to share with you over the next few days. Let's start off today with I Theodora You, a light blush pink with a translucent jelly creme finish.

This is just a lovely soft pink shade, and it's easily my favorite of the three creme shades in the collection. Due to its more sheer nature, I went with three coats for the swatches. The formula is good, with each coat going on smoothly and evenly, so you can definitely wear it at two coats if you prefer a more sheer look. Dry time is not bad at all considering the number of coats, and it dries to a nice glossy shine.

You can find I Theodora You at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $9 for 0.5 fl oz.
