FingerPaints Enchanted Mermaid Collection

Hi, you guys! I'm writing this as I'm watching The Strain (on FX) with my husband. It's a gory vampire tv show, and I'm totally chicken when it comes to anything scary, so I'm half hiding behind my laptop as it's on lol.

Today, I've got a collection with an interesting concept to show you. The FingerPaints Enchanted Mermaid Collection is made up of four shimmery shades with fish scale textures. When I first heard of this, I was so excited. The idea sounded amazing and I'm always up for trying a new texture, especially one with a novel concept. But it didn't quite turn out the way I had thought. You can see for yourself...

OPI Ford Mustang Collection

When I was in high school, I loved reading Nancy Drew mysteries. Here was this super cool girl who solves crimes and helps people, all the while remaining witty, unflappable, and likable. And Nancy drives a Ford Mustang! As an impressionable youth, that fact seared itself into my mind and throughout the entirety of my teen years, the Mustang remained my dream car.

Needless to say, I was pretty excited when I saw the collaboration between OPI and Ford to celebrate the Mustang's 50th anniversary, and I've now got the six-piece collection in my paws to show you. :)

China Glaze There's Snow One Like You

Happy hump day, you guys! :-)

Today, I'm kicking off the twelve-polish China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze Collection with the most unique and unusual of the bunch. There's Snow One Like You is a white texture polish with medium-sized hex glitters sprinkled throughout.

The first coat is easy to apply, but the subsequent coats are a little trickier because the polish is so bumpy. It's hard to get the second layer of polish to go on evenly and fill in all the dips. I ended up doing two coats for the swatches. I messed up my index and tried to add a third coat, but I wouldn't recommend that. It took forever to dry. Once on the nails, it reminds me of a pile of fresh snow or popcorn ceiling, depending on if you like the look or not. :P

You can find There's Snow One Like You at your local nail salons and at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty for a retail price of $7.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

OPI Ski Slope Sweetie

Hi, you guys! Hope your week is going well. :-)

Today, I'm kicking off a selection of colors from the OPI Mariah Carey Holiday 2013 Collection. It's a large collection (18 polishes!) and I have quite a number of gorgeous shades to share with you, so please bear with me as I go through this set. :D First up is Ski Slope Sweetie, a sheer white with tons of golden iridescent shimmers.

This is such a sparkly and interesting polish. The shimmers in here are strong, flashing predominantly gold, but you'll also see bits of green and pink. In fact, the shimmers are so striking that they dominate what you see on the nails, making the polish appear more gold on the nails than what you'd think from the bottle. True to its name, it makes me think of sunshine bouncing off the sparkling spray you kick up as you come to a hard stop on your skis. :-)

The formula is smooth and easy to apply, though a bit on the sheer side in terms of coverage. I did three coats for the swatches, and you can still see a little of the nail line at that. It's a very pretty and unique polish, so to me, it's worth the extra coat. If I were wearing it, I would stick to three coats for a more ethereal look, or wear it over a white base for a more opaque look.

You can find Ski Slope Sweetie at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $9 for 0.5 fl oz.

KBShimmer Lottie Dottie

Hi, you guys! Happy Monday! :-) I'm still off from work today and feeling incredibly lazy, so I'm happy to have finally finished this post lol.

KBShimmer had their anniversary sale over the summer, which provided the perfect opportunity for me to pick up some polishes I've been eyeing, and I've got one of those to share with you today. Lottie Dottie has a white jelly creme base filled with blue and pink round reflective glitters, micro dots, and mini slices of bar glitters.

I really like Lottie Dottie. The blue and pink is such a fun mix of colors and they really pop against the white base. :-) This has a great formula. The base spreads out easily. Each coat has excellent glitter payoff with the glitters distributing evenly, so there is no need for fishing or finagling. I used three coats for the swatches for total coverage.

You can find Lottie Dottie at KBShimmer.com for $8.75 and HarlowandCo.org for $9 for 0.5 fl oz.

KBShimmer You Autumn Know

Hi, you guys! Hope your week is off to a great start! :-)

Today, I've got another fun polish from the KBShimmer Fall 2013 Collection to share with you. You Autumn Know is a creamy white base with lots of hexagon and and small bar glitters in a variety fall colors (gold, orange and purple).

The colors in this polish epitomizes fall and makes me think of its turning leaves and filtered sunshine. Application is nice and easy with no issues. There's plenty of glitter, so each coat deposits a nice amount onto the nails. They go on smoothly and spread out evenly without much coaxing. Due to the creamy jelly base, I needed three coats to get sufficient coverage.

You can find You Autumn Know starting September 1st at KBShimmer.com for $8.75 and HarlowandCo.org for $9 for 0.5 fl oz.

Dollish Polish Expecto Patronum

Hi there! Hope you're having a great week so far! :-)

Today I've got a really special polish to share with you. Dollish Polish's Expecto Patronum is a white jelly filled with sparkly and reflective teal small-sized round and medium-sized hexagon glitters.

Being a huge Harry Potter fan myself, the name of this polish is what first attracted my attention. But once I saw what the polish actually looked like, I knew I had to get my paws on it. :-) Like its namesake, the polish is beautiful in a uplifting and ethereal way. It's delicate and lovely, not overpowering while still being interesting. It's just stunning, really! Even though I have a large collection and show a lot of polishes on this blog, it's always a joy when I get share with you a personal favorite mine. :-)

Expecto Patronum has a fantastic formula. There's plenty of glitters, so it's easy to apply evenly and achieve a uniform glitter distribution. Two coats ended up being all I need for great glitter density and overall coverage, and it's what you see in the swatches. As the polish dries down, you'll see that the white jelly becomes more mellow and translucent, so you may want to do an additional third coat if you like it more white.

You can find Expecto Patronum on Dollish Polish's Big Cartel site for $10 for the full-sized bottle of 0.5 fl oz and $5 for the mini-sized bottle of 0.3 fl oz.

Dollish Polish Who Lives In A Pineapple Under The Sea?

Hi, you guys! Hope you're in the midst of a great weekend! :-)

Today, I've got my favorite from Dollish Polish's recent Cartoon Series to share with you. Who Lives In A Pineapple Under The Sea? is comprised of small white and gold square and round glitters, medium blue round glitters, and large red star glitters, all in a white jelly.

I've been eyeing this ever since it first came out, and I was really happy to finally pick it up during Llarowe's recent Memorial Day sale. :-) I've been so into white jellies recently, and no one makes them quite like Dollish Polish. This white jelly is smooth and creamy, and builds up to the perfect translucency in just two coats. I'm loving the unique and fun combination of glitters and how they look peeking out from the milky base.

Application-wise, since this polish's glitters are more sparse, I found it helpful to turn the bottle upside down for 30 minutes or so before applying so that the glitters have a chance to distribute evenly in the bottle. The big red stars did take a lot of finagling to get onto the brush, but that's pretty standard for glitters of that size. I did manage to get one star on each finger and was quite happy with the result.

You can find Who Lives In A Pineapple Under The Sea? on Dollish Polish's Big Cartel site for $10 for the full sized bottle of 0.5 fl oz, as well as at a few other retailers, such as Llarowe.

OPI Minnie Style

Hi, you guys! We just spent the Saturday morning trying to fight back against the blackberry bush that's slowly creeping from the hillside into our backyard. This bush is huge and invasive, so it's posing to be an interesting problem for the hubby. Hopefully we can clear it faster than it's growing, but if not, I guess we can always hire some goats like they did at a local university to clear out weeds and blackberry bushes lol. :D

Today, I've got another fun color from the OPI Couture de Minnie Collection to share with you. Minnie Style is filled with uniformly medium-sized reflective pink and red and non-reflective white hexagon glitters in a sheer base.

Minnie Style is a glitter very much from the same inspiration as a lot of the glitter polishes we see from OPI, with their signature larger-sized hex glitters in a variety of colors. Application is a little tricky, but that is typical of glitters of this size. Make sure to get enough polish on your brush, then dollop that onto the nails and gingerly smooth and distribute the glitters around. It does take a little bit of finagling, but it's not too bad. What you see in the swatches is one coat over OPI A Definite Moust-Have.

You can find Minnie Style at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $9 for 0.5 fl oz.

OPI Solitaire

Hi you guys! Happy weekend! :-)

I wanted to kick off the OPI Bond Girls Liquid Sand Collection today! First up in the collection is Solitaire, a  shimmery white with round silver glitters that dry to a textured finish.

Solitaire is beautiful and pristine, like glistening snow on a sunny day. It goes on with a shimmery metallic finish, but dries with the gritty sandy texture you'd expect. The formula is quite good. It goes on evenly and smoothly. The first coat is a little thin, but the second coat fills everything in nicely and reaches opacity. Dry time is a little longer, but that is expected for these textured polishes.

You can find Solitaire at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $9 for 0.5 fl oz.

OPI Don't Burst My Bubble

Hi you guys! Hope your weekend has been lovely and relaxing! :-)

Today, I've got another of the soft neutral shades from the OPI Oz The Great and Powerful Collection to share with you. Don't Burst My Bubble is a soft milky white with just a hint of pink in a translucent jelly creme finish.

This is so soft and pretty on the nails, definitely a clean and refreshing way to wear white without being too harsh. Just like the other jelly cremes in the collection, the formula for this one is fantastic. Each coat goes on smoothly and evenly without being streaky, so it builds up coverage nicely. If you like softer and more translucent, you can stop at two coats, but I did three for the swatches above and I really like it at that.

You can find Don't Burst My Bubble at your local nail salons and beauty stores such as Ulta and Dillard's for a retail price of $9 for 0.5 fl oz.

China Glaze Glitz N Pieces

Happy weekend, you guys! Did you remember to update your clocks? I love daylight savings and how it gets dark later (there'll actually be daylight when I leave work now!), but this whole losing an hour's sleep is too much for me. I'm so tired today lol. *yawn*

China Glaze released their six-polish Glitz Bitz 'n Pieces Collection, and I've got a few to share with you. Today I'll start off with Glitz N Pieces, the silver and black one of the collection.

Glitz N Pieces is comprised of a mix of small, medium and large round and hexagon silver and black pieces, as well as some black bar glitters, all in a sheer base. In the swatches, I'm showing it layered over Dandy Lyin' Around. I did one coat, with a few strokes over each other to build glitter density and even coverage. For the bigger glitter pieces, I did have to fish a bit to get those onto the nails, but that's pretty much expected for bigger glitters.

You can find Glitz N Pieces at your local nail salons and at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty for a retail price of $7 for 0.5 fl oz.
