China Glaze Split Perso-NAIL-ity

Hi you guys! This week, I've got a few colors from the new China Glaze Tranzitions Collection to share with you. The Tranzitions Collection is a set of six polishes that changes color once top coat is added. Today, I'll start off with Split Perso-NAIL-ity, a dusty mauve pink with subtle shimmers that transforms to a bright pink with top coat.

Without top coat

With top coat

The formula for this is smooth and pigmented. You can almost get away with just one coat, though I did two for the swatches to smooth everything out. This dries on the nails darker and more purple than what you see in the bottle. I really like the way this looks without top coat, and that's probably the way I would wear this color most often.

With top coat, the amount of color change depends on the thickness of the top coat you apply. This results in some streakiness, and that is most noticeable when you apply top coat to the whole nail. If you use the top coat for nail art, like dotting or striping, the streakiness is less noticeable, and I think the two versions of the pink look quite cute side-by-side.

You can find Split Perso-NAIL-ity at your local nail salons and at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty for a retail price of $7 for 0.5 fl oz.

  3. They are fun - but I'm not going to pick any of them up (I think LOL)
This is a beautiful color with and without a top coat!

    1. They're definitely fun, but probably not as useful for a serious nail artist like yourself. :-)

  4. Humm... I like it the best with a top coat on :) And I really like the idea. But I always wear top coat on my manis, so it would be a waste for me to buy these.

    1. Yep, if you prefer to wear top coat, then there is no way to really use these to their full potential.

  6. Just like you said, I'd wear this as is, without top coat nor nail art! I am not a fan of changing polishes...

    1. I don't do a lot of nail art, and it's too streaky to wear with top coat over whole nails, so the changing part of the nail polish isn't as useful to me either.

  7. I don't like the idea that some of my polish wouldn't have top coat on it :P I need topcoat!

    1. Hehe if you like to use top coat, then these won't be as useful to you. :-)

  8. I like the way you swatched this! I don't think I like these polishes though! I'm another top coat addict though haha :)

    1. Thanks, I tried a couple of different ways to swatch these and finally settled on what I'm showing. For sure, if you like to use top coat, this collection won't be as useful to you. :-)

  9. I can see how it'd be a little difficult to work with in terms of streakiness coming through the "changed" colour with the top coat. But it looks really useful and fun for nail art :)

  11. Pretty colour. But these polishes are not really for me. Barry M had the chameleon ones and I never tried them :)

  12. The most I see these polishes, the more I like them! I just wonder how matte topcoat affects them...

    1. I'm glad you're liking them! That's a good question. I don't have a matte topcoat, so I can't try it out.

  13. I'm not sure I'm really understanding this polish-if you use ANY top coat will it turn color? Or do you have to buy THEIR topcoat? Seems to me to be a trick to get you to buy more than one polish!

    1. That's right, it's suppose to turn color with ANY top coat, not just the China Glaze one, although I used the China Glaze top coat for my swatches. :-)

  14. I don't like this one at all :-(
It's so not unique, it's streaky, it just... well... un-needed...

    1. Yes ma'am, I see you do not like this color at all :P
I understand the sentiment though. The streakiness is a bit much.
